Adoption Process

What veterinary care is included?

When you adopt from Dust Bowl Animal Rescue you are receiving a vetted animal. For dogs and cats this includes being spayed/neutered, microchipped, as well as all vaccinations appropriate for age. Dogs receive a SNAP test for heartworms and tick fever if over 6 months and all felines receive a SNAP test for FeLV/FIV. If you adopt a puppy or kitten you will likely have to finish some booster shots after adoption. Dogs receive DHPP and Bordetella, cats receive FVRCP & FeLV, rabies is done for all animals over 16 weeks of age.  A copy of all veterinary records is provided with your adoption so you can provide it to your veterinarian.

How much does it cost?

Our adoption fees for dogs and cats are $120. This covers the vetting costs on a basic animal. However, rescue animals frequently come to us sick, injured, or needing more extensive care so it is not unusual for our cost in an animal to exceed $500 or more. If you want to help us cover these costs check out the Donate page!

How do I adopt?

Below are forms that you can fill out and send to us at dustbowlanimalrescue@gmail.com or just send us an email if you have more questions. We do require a home visit on all dog adoptions, we require cats to be 100% inside only and dogs to be kept primarily indoors. We hold adoption events at several locations in Midland and Odessa at least twice a month. Check out our Facebook group or send us an email to see where we will be next!
